Piero Peroni with his sons Maurizio and Marco
The origins of the artisanal factory Fratelli Peroni date back to 1956 when Peroni brothers, Piero and Roberto, founded their fur and leathergoods workshop in Florence. Today the third generation of Peroni, Maurizio and Marco, is carrying on the tradition of high quality leather workcraft, preserving their professionality and manual ability, adding at the same time creativity and innovation.
The “F.lli Peroni” is a real artisanal factory, where the owners take part in the production daily too, teaching the secrets of this ancient art to their staff of artisans.
Products elevate emotionally the possessors: the artisanal and Renaissance-born “cuoio artistico fiorentino” traditional work, passed down from one generation to another, is immediately perceived.
The factory uses high quality raw materials, like the vegetable tanned calf leather. Fashion accessories, such as wallets, business card holders, coin cases, and also furnishing, bags and briefcases are some production examples.
The main inspiration source is Florentine artistic heritage, specifically some details of the works of art in the museums. Antiquity models are reimagined in the modern-day, in order never to fail the lasting union between the item function and beauty.
The production icon is the Peroni “tacco” coin case, totally handmade in their workshop. In over 30 years, re- laborating the traditional design, Fratelli Peroni have been able to create many different styles, in a large variety of hand-painted colours and decorations. The leather used is vegetable-tanned; it means that no chemical substances are used in its tanning, but only natural, environment-friendly ones. It takes 37 steps to produce one single coin case: through this processing, the typical rigidity of “cuoietto fiorentino” is reached and they can assemble resistant objects without stitches needed.
Fratelli Peroni collaborates with a lot of famous labels, producing fashion accessories.
It is also an active presence at “Pitti Uomo” and “Mipel” fairs in Florence and Milan, respectively.
The traditional artisanal craftwork together with the wide range of excellent products have brought over the years great successes and recognitions and in 2007 Fratelli Peroni has been indicated in the annual report of Eurispes (Italian statistics authority) as one of the 100 Italian companies of excellence.
Since 2008, the factory is the proud holder of the Traceability Certificate, which guarantees the real 100% Made in Italy.
The Artigiano OMA and Bottega d’Arte recognition (given by “Associazione Osservatorio Mestieri d’Arte”) in 2015 and the classification as an Italian Excellence in 2017 are the latest successes of the company.
